Not Wanting To Be The Disestablishment

If the folks running the party want the tea partiers to support their preferred candidates — when they’re the nominee, at least — it should work the other way around as well. It now appears that Cuccinelli, a flawed candidate running against an even more flawed human being, could have pulled this thing out if he’d had more help at the end.

What Jonah and others fail to realize is,that 'the GOP establishment' would very well rather have McAuliffe or any other liberal Democrat elected to office than a real conservative,'Tea Partier',or libertarian Republican. 'The establishment' knows full well the day that the 'Tea Party',or any other freedom loving candidates gain a majority in the GOP,they will go from being the establishment to being the disestablishment.

'So Who Needs Romney?'

Ever since Rand Paul endorsed Romney I have been really depressed.Ron Paul seems to have left his supporters hanging,refusing to stand up on their behalf against the establishment,while they are out in the trenches literally risking life and limb.I'm really disappointed in Ron Paul over this,but that's water over the dam.

One thing Romney and the establishment needs to understand,just because Rand endorsed you doesn't mean that WE -those of us who have supported Ron Paul- will follow in his foot steps.Doug Weed makes this point clear: 

Establishment Republicans and the main stream media are having a difficult time understanding why Ron Paul supporters aren’t just falling into line behind Mitt Romney.  Don’t we want the GOP to win?  And don’t we want our own candidate to win the nomination someday?  And if so, don’t we realize that we have to be loyal to the nominee this time?
Of course, these are the same establishment Republicans who are hiring off duty policemen to arrest and detain our duly elected county chairmen, or locking the registered rolls of delegates in the trunks of their cars so that the convention cannot have a roll call vote and they can claim “Ayes have it,” when the “Ayes” don’t have anything.
And this is the mainstream media that gave Ron Paul 89 seconds of an hour long televised debate.  And who in another debate, gave their anchor almost as much time as Dr. Paul, the presidential candidate.  And who ignore videotaped state conventions where delegates have their bones broken for more compelling news stories elsewhere.
We see the train headed toward a canyon and the bridge is out.  There is going to be a great crash.  And meanwhile, we are being urged to change the engineer.  “Obama is driving this train 100 mph!” we are told by hand wringing, hysterical, establishment Republicans.  “We need to get Romney in there.  He will slow it down to 95.”

One point I would like to add to this,while the establishment love to demand that we fall in line and support the nominee,this is something they rarely do.When Christine O'Donnell won the Delaware primary in 2010 the 'All-Stars' on Fox attacked her viciously.When Lisa Murkowski lost to Joe Miller in the Alaska GOP primary,she didn't accept the result,she ran as a independent in the general election.Not to mention the attacks upon Sarah Palin and others that came from the GOP.

We don't owe them anything and its going to be a pretty cold place in you know where before I vote for Romney!

'Police Intervene,Arrest Ron Paul Backers At Missouri Caucus'

Police and organizers shut down proceedings at one of Missouri's largest caucuses today, as Ron Paul supporters feuded with local GOP leaders.

"It's like the Hatfields and the McCoys around here," St. Charles County's former GOP chairman told ABC News, after police arrived on-scene with a helicopter and removed Paul backers.

In St. Charles, an exurb of St. Louis and one of the state's largest GOP counties, Paul supporters sought to elect their own chairman and adopt their own rules when proceedings opened - both of which are part of standard caucus rules and procedure. But as they argued with the caucus chair, Paul supporters held video cameras - against caucus rules, according to a GOP official who was there - and things became contentious.

This whole primary and caucus season has been a SHAM.The GOP will break their own rules to keep Ron Paul and his supporters from having any voice in THEIR party.

Whoever is GIVEN the GOP nomination in the end,will be a FRAUD!He will have won a RIGGED election,with all the cards stacked in his favor.

It looks like Mitt Romney will be the GOP nominee and will wind up shooting himself in November.Rick Santorum still has run himself over and Newt can't seem to wake up the conservative base.Ron Paul (who is NOT A TWIT) came earlier to run a marathon and the MSM didn't cover it.

Many Republican House members, and the bloggers and tea partiers who cheered their victory in gaining a majority in November 2010, seem to be seething with discontent and eager for confrontation.

They believe, reasonably, that their victory represented a repudiation of the vast expansion of government by the Obama Democrats. They want to see those policies reversed, and pronto. And if the dilatory Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the all-campaign-no-governance President Obama want a confrontation, so much the better.
Such impatience is unbecoming in those who call themselves “constitutional conservatives.” It is James Madison’s Constitution that prevents the winners of one election from directing the course of public policy as unilaterally as, to take one example, the British Labor party marched Britain into a socialist welfare state on the basis of one election victory in 1945.

This is utter hog-wash!We who want less government and to reduce its power over our lives DO NOT expect a return to Constitutional government over night.In fact most of us know it won't happen in our lifetimes.

We know we will have to have both the House and a filibuster proof Senate,with the Presidency just to begin to restore our nation to its Constitutional roots.We also know that the battle will not just be in Washington,but in the streets all across America.The Left -the Union-thugs and Occupy Wall Street- will rage with violence at the end of government programs that they have been conditioned to be dependent upon;being encouraged to do so by the crony capitalist who have enriched themselves at the expense of the state.It will be a very long and enduring fight.

The problem that I and others have with the Republicans in Congress,is not in their prudence in picking the right fight,but in their refusal to stand up and fight at all.Their strategy seems to be to avoid confrontation with Obama and the Democrats at all cost,caving in at every opportunity.They may not be able to roll back the welfare state,but they DO NOT have to be a party to its expansion.

Patience is a virtue,but cowardice is not.This exactly what John Boehner and the GOP leadership in the House has exhibited,cowardice.I will not be lectured to,by Michael Barone or any other Washington insider on being impatient,when we are led in Washington by a bunch of cowards.

This Is Why The GOP Will Lose In November

A prominent Republican senator just told me that if Romney can’t win in Michigan, the Republican Party needs to go back to the drawing board and convince somebody new to get into the race.
“If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate,” said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity.
The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not.
“We’d get killed,” the senator said if Romney manages to win the nomination after he failed to win the state in which he grew up.
“He’d be too damaged,” he said.  “If he can’t even win in Michigan, where his family is from, where he grew up.”
What about Rick Santorum?
“He’d lose 35 states,” the senator said, predicting the same fate for Newt Gingrich.
It would have to be somebody else, the senator said.  Who?
“Jeb Bush,” the former Florida governor.

If senator Anonymous wants to tell me,that if Romney can't win his home state of Michigan,the Republican party will "get killed" in November,I agree.You want to tell me that either Santorum or Gingrich would "lose 35 states" in a general election,I agree again.But if you want to suggest to me,senator Anonymous,that Jeb Bush is the answer,I would have to say,"you are out of your mind,John McCain."

This is why we need to vote for Ron Paul and help him get as many delegates as he can,to stop this kind of lunacy.

'Ron Paul's Delegate Strategy'

And it’s not just Maine and Colorado. Talking to reporters in January, Benton predicted that the Paul campaign would ultimately “win the Iowa delegation, even though we took a close third place . . . on caucus night.” Seventy-five percent of the Minnesota delegates to local party conventions are Paul backers, according to the campaign.
Ultimately, the odds that Paul could get enough delegates to swing the national convention to a vote nominating him are nil. But the more delegates Paul controls, the more of an impact he can have on determining the GOP platform at the convention. Furthermore, if it does come to a brokered convention — admittedly an unlikely scenario — the Paul campaign will be ready. Benton refuses to speculate about what the specific odds are that there will be a brokered convention, but does say of the possibility, “We’ve always seen it as more likely than most people would.”
The campaign is also flirting with the possibility that “bound” delegates won’t ultimately be bound. “We would like to take a majority of the delegates and so if there is an unbinding after round one, or if there is a rule passed on the floor of the Republican National Convention to unbind the delegates, then the majority of the delegates [in a given state delegation] would be our supporters and we would control that delegation,” Benton remarks. He notes the campaign’s efforts in Nevada, where delegates are considered bound for the first round of votes: Paul came in third, winning 19 percent of the vote, but the campaign believes it currently controls 60 percent of the delegates. If by some chance those delegates became unbound (and the campaign managed to control 60 percent of the convention delegates), the convention-delegate vote would not mirror Nevada’s caucus vote.
Looking ahead, the campaign is particularly targeting Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, North Dakota, Kansas, and Missouri. Most of those states’ delegates are bound.
The Paul campaign is frank about its belief that no other campaign is as well set up to acquire delegates.

Wouldn't be something,while Mitt,Newt,and Santorum are out playing the beauty contest,Ron Paul slowly garners enough delegates to win the nomination.Either way Ron Paul will be heard at this Summers GOP convention.

Democrats Are Trying To Nip Marco Rubio In The Bud

There seems to be an orchestrated effort emerging to undermine Sen. Marco Rubio. At least, that’s how it looks.
On the heels of that recent and terribly flawed Reuters story, there have been multiple other shots fired his direction. Some of this may simply speak to Rubio’s level of activity and effectiveness. But the assault hardly seems organic.
Consider the last week, or so, as an example.
During a press briefing this week, White House press secretary Jay Carney took aim at Rubio’s proposed bi-partisan legislation on the religious liberty issue. And a video produced by the DNC also cast Rubio as Obama’s primary adversary over the religious liberty/contraception fight, calling his views “extreme.”
News revealing that Sen. Rubio had hired a firm to research his own background (a smart move for any politician) was “brought to BuzzFeed’s attention by American Bridge, a Democratic opposition research group.”(It’s worth noting American Bridge has previously admitted to targeting Rubio.)
And with another day comes another Rubio story. Politico is out today with what appears to be the latest attempt planted by the Obama Administration to undermine Rubio.
This lasest story seems to be a big nothing burger. Still, this should be viewed in context — not as a stand-alone — but rather as the latest example of a larger effort to strangle the baby in the crib — to undermine one of the few Republicans viewed to be an existential threat to the future of liberalism in America.

With every passing day the likely-hood of a GOP brokered convention becomes more and more possible. Obama and the Democrats are not going to sit back and wait for the GOP to decide on a nominee and then attack him or her.They are going to be more proactive and attack potential threats now and Marco Rubio maybe the biggest potential threat to Obama and a 2nd term in the Republican party.

'They Counted What Thay Wanted To Count'

The Bangor Daily News is reporting that the Maine Republican Party is facing increasing pressure to reconsider its claim that Mitt Romney won the state's caucuses until all the votes are counted. (Hat tip: Taegan Goddard.) Some caucuses were postponed due to snow and told that they won't count in the final tally; towns that had their caucuses before February 11 were also inexplicably not counted.
The Bangor paper quotes a political science professor as saying "It sure looks like they counted what they wanted to count." It is by no means clear that the missing votes would be enough to change the outcome, but even Republicans who didn't support runner-up Ron Paul are concerned about the perceptions created by the state party's handling of the caucuses.

This is outright voter fraud and everybody knows it.

'Obama Lite'

Well, we know the leadership is the same old GOP: As I noted last week, the Boehner Highway Boondoggle might as well be called “Obama Lite” — and it’s really not all that lite at $262 billion, which is about $70 billion more than dedicated fuel taxes will generate and $14 billion per annum more than House Republicans proposed just seven months ago. This is exactly the sort of recklessness that got the GOP booted from power in 2006 and 2008, and that they promised voters they had sworn off. 

As Erick Erickson points out, moreover, House Republican leadership is using the same sort of sleight-of-hand Obama Democrats employ to conceal their profligacy and bribe resisters: budget busting provisions are diverted into separate legislation, to be paid for out of general funds, to hide the fact that the Highway Trust Fund is being blown out; domestic energy production is purportedly ramped up (the Left will never go for it) to woo fiscally responsible conservatives into voting yea — even though there is no reason why energy production should be linked to transportation, and if there is a surplus to be had from it, responsible lawmakers would use it to pay down some of the mountainous debt they are saddling our children and grandchildren with, not fund more “stimulus.”

The House Republicans proved how spineless they were last year in the debt ceiling debacle and I fully expect them to cave again to this pork barrel spending.

The GOP Suppresses Ron Paul Vote In Maine

......in Washington County, where Paul had expected to perform well, the caucus was postponed until Feb. 18 due to an expected snowstorm. Washington County Republican Chairman Chris Gardner told the AP he had no idea when the caucuses were postponed that his county would no longer count toward the grand total.

“This is an outrage," John Tate, Paul's campaign manager, said in an email to supporters. "But our campaign is in this race to win, and will stay in it to the very end."
Paul's campaign has accused the local GOP of postponing the caucuses to prevent the results from being reported on Saturday, arguing that "just the votes of Washington County would have been enough to put us over the top."
The campaign is also dismissing the notion that weather was a reasonable excuse for the caucuses to be put off.
“This is Maine we’re talking about," Tate said. "The Girl Scouts had an event today in Washington County that wasn’t cancelled!"
Paul's aides have maintained that the Texas congressman will wind up with the most delegates from Maine, despite Romney's apparent victory Saturday night. Maine's caucuses are non-binding, and delegates are selected at a state convention in May.
"We were a little bit disappointed last night," Paul said Sunday on CBS's Face the Nation. "But we were disappointed that the one county where we have done the best in the past, and we were expected to do the best, they canceled their caucus."
Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said the campaign was confident it would control the Maine delegation at the GOP nominating covention in August in Tampa, Fla.

Something is fishy in Maine and its not the daily catch.The GOP establishment is hell-bent on having Mitt Romney as their nominee,even to the point of voter suppression.

'What Conservative Movement?'

At this point, it's impossible to separate one from the other, though they'll continue to tell you they aren't one and the same. That's ridiculous. When an organization like the Heritage Foundation comes up with the underpinnings of Romneycare and now Obamacare, whether they've since backtracked, or not, what else is it that you really need to know?What Is a Conservative? I agree with the all of the above except on one point,the conservative movement is alive and well with Ron Paul.Stop the whining,get back in the game,stop supporting frauds like Gingrich and Santorum,and vote for Ron Paul and give him as many delegates we can so he can lead a fight on the convention floor or just maybe a walk-out and let these frauds and hucksters have their precious GOP.

But this whole thing isn’t really about Newt Gingrich vs. Mitt Romney. It is about the GOP establishment vs. the Tea Party grassroots and independent Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction used now by both parties’ operatives with a complicit media egging it on. In fact, the establishment has been just as dismissive of Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. Newt is an imperfect vessel for Tea Party support, but in South Carolina the Tea Party chose to get behind him instead of the old guard’s choice. In response, the GOP establishment voices denounced South Carolinian voters with the same vitriol we usually see from the left when they spew hatred at everyday Americans “bitterly clinging” to their faith and their Second Amendment rights. The Tea Party was once again told to sit down and shut up and listen to the “wisdom” of their betters. We were reminded of the litany of Tea Party endorsed candidates in 2010 who didn’t win. Well, here’s a little newsflash to the establishment: without the Tea Party there would have been no historic 2010 victory at all.
 I spoke up before the South Carolina primary to urge voters there to keep this primary going because I have great concern about the GOP establishment trying to anoint a candidate without the blessing of the grassroots and all the needed energy and resources we as commonsense constitutional conservatives could bring to the general election in order to defeat President Obama. Now, I respect Governor Romney and his success. But there are serious concerns about his record and whether as a politician he consistently applied conservative principles and how this impacts the agenda moving forward. The questions need answers now. That is why this primary should not be rushed to an end. We need to vet this. Pundits in the Beltway are gleefully proclaiming that this primary race is over after Florida, despite 46 states still not having chimed in. Well, perhaps it’s possible that it will come to a speedy end in just four days; but with these questions left unanswered, it will not have come to a satisfactory conclusion. Without this necessary vetting process, the unanswered question of Governor Romney’s conservative bona fides and the unanswered and false attacks on Newt Gingrich will hang in the air to demoralize many in the electorate. The Tea Party grassroots will certainly feel disenfranchised and disenchanted with the perceived orchestrated outcome from self-proclaimed movers and shakers trying to sew this all up. And, trust me, during the general election, Governor Romney’s statements and record in the private sector will be relentlessly parsed over by the opposition in excruciating detail to frighten off swing voters. This is why we need a fair primary that is not prematurely cut short by the GOP establishment using Alinsky tactics to kneecap Governor Romney’s chief rival.
 As I said in my speech in Iowa last September, the challenge of this election is not simply to replace President Obama. The real challenge is who and what we will replace him with. It’s not enough to just change up the uniform. If we don’t change the team and the game plan, we won’t save our country. We truly need sudden and relentless reform in Washington to defend our republic, though it’s becoming clearer that the old guard wants anything but that. That is why we should all be concerned by the tactics employed by the establishment this week. We will not save our country by becoming like the left. And I question whether the GOP establishment would ever employ the same harsh tactics they used on Newt against Obama. I didn’t see it in 2008. Many of these same characters sat on their thumbs in ‘08 and let Obama escape unvetted. Oddly, they’re now using every available microscope and endoscope – along with rewriting history – in attempts to character assassinate anyone challenging their chosen one in their own party’s primary. So, one must ask, who are they really running against?

 Sarah Palin is right,this about much more than Newt Gingrich,but about grass-roots conservatives.Don't get caught up in what Newt is or isn't,the establishment will do anthing to mantain its control of the GOP

My question to Sarah Palin,Rush,and even to Ron Paul,is how long will you put up with the establishment in the GOP and finally just give them their d@%^ party,and go form one of our own?Conservatives are never going to get anywhere in the GOP.Ronald Reagan was the exception not the rule.We need to realize this and move on.                                       

'Romney Can't Win'

I believe it was Dan Gainor who pointed out via Twitter last night, in essence, the establishment may end up getting Romney through but they are quite possibly costing themselves the election to do it. Mitt Romney IS a progressive Republican who will say anything to get the nomination. The GOP sycophants that call themselves conservative in our Beltway media can shill and hide massive weaknesses for Romney all they want. Come a general election, they will be irrelevant and an Obama-friendly media will be calling the shots. Given the bias of so many GOP pundits in the primary, they will have no right to complain about it, as if it would even matter.
For Romney to attack every conservative from the Right, when he is so obviously and so far to the Left of them, demonstrates a complete lack of character and integrity. But slash and burn is all he has, as he has no core conservative principles and can't articulate them in an authentic manner. As much as I hate Obama's politics, as an individual, I have more respect for him today, than I do Mitt Romney. And I am far from alone. If the GOP doesn't realize what that will cost in soft support, or no support at all in the Fall, they are delusional.
With the advent of new media, too many people are seeing, talking and connecting today. The GOP in Washington is not the party of Reagan, it is a party on its way to the political wilderness for a decade or more without serious reform. The clearest sign of that is the support a Ron Paul pulls. It is 2 - 4 times what it should be and is a telling sign of just how many people have written, or are in the process of writing off the GOP establishment.
From RNC head, to primaries, now the primary, the GOP establishment consistently uses all its power to stomp down any conservative. Conservatives are fast approaching a breaking point. The GOP believes it will be fine because it will be all Obama come November. They are wrong. Mitt Romney has gone from unlikeable, to detestable and some of us are not going to forget it simply because the GOP thinks it can blow dog whistles around Obama.
When the GOP nominee formulated and implemented the model for ObamaCare, there's not enough distance between those two dogs to fight for much of anything come the general election. If nothing else, at least we can then finally be rid of Mitt Romney, who has been little more than a blight upon GOP presidential politics for two election cycles, now. The media structure enabling him may remain, but that too will be increasingly undersiege by grassroots-based new media. What we lack in money, we make up for in numbers. And we have the GOP's number thanks to the primary season, as well as several previous recent events.
Yesterday was a despicable day in American politics given the Romney/GOP garbage dump on former Speaker Newt Gingrich - and he wasn't even my guy. That the GOP sycophants and Team Romney will demonstrate absolutely no shame over it makes it abundantly clear that a GOP with Mitt Romney at the helm is unfit to govern America.

I will in no uncertain terms vote for Mitt Romney come November.He is liberal not a moderate -anyone to have authored Romneycare,which is the inspiration for Obamacare,is not a moderate and certainly no conservative,and I will not vote for a liberal period.

What do people expect the author of Romneycare to do?Repeal the pattern -Obamacare- of his one landmark achievement as Governor of Massachusetts?Please!Anyone with half a brain knew Romney would never do that.As for Newt and Santorum,they would cave as well.The only one,the absolute only one running in this election,that would rip out Obamacare branch root and all,is Ron Paul.

As for the Republican Party,it maybe already terminal and beyond saving,but not repealing Obamacare would sink the boat.

Bill Kristol Wants Ron Paul To Leave The GOP

Bill Kristol:

“A lot of people when they criticize Ron Paul have to preface their criticism by saying, ‘you know, he’s good guy, he brings a lot to the debate,’” Bill Kristol said on C-SPAN. “I actually don’t buy that. I do not think he’s a particular good guy . . . I think it would be better for the Republican party, if he left the Republican party.”

You know what Mr. Kristol,they are a lot of us out here who wish Ron Paul would leave the GOP,and we would follow him right out the door too.It is clear,that if you believe in constitutional government,individual liberty,with a committment to smaller,less intrusive government,their is no longer a place set for you at the Republican party's table.The only time the GOP wants to hear from any of us,is just for us to open our wallets to fill their coffers and vote for the RINO of the month.Any other time we are to sit down and shut up and be thankful that they,the elites,let us stay in such a Grand Old Party.Maybe it is time to go!

'Mitt Romney: The Last Republican President?'

Mitt Romney, by his actions in Massachusetts both campaigning for the U.S. Senate and as Governor, has shown himself to be more than willing to compromise with the Left and the Democrats.   He has proposed and passed the socialist RomneyCare policy, pro-abortion regulations, and gun control, and raised numerous taxes and fees while increasing spending dramatically.   During the current campaign he refuses to call Barack Obama what he is; instead Romney refers to him as just "being over his head."
If ever a candidate mirrored the mindset and approach of George H.W. Bush, it is Mitt Romney.
This is the last hurrah of the Republican establishment.   The conservatives and libertarians will vote for Romney in November, but only because he is not Barack Obama.  There will be no enthusiasm, which will hurt the down ballot contests for the U.S. Senate, the House and state governorships.   Despite the factors weighing against Obama in this upcoming election, it will be a much closer contest that it should be; perhaps a razor thin victory for Romney.
If Romney were to lose the election, there will be a grass-roots revolt against the Republican Party which will spell its demise.   If he wins and the nation, through the mis-directed policies of Romney and the Republicans in the Congress, continues on its current path of compromising and nibbling around the edges of the nation's problems, then Romney will be the last Republican president and the specter of the Democrats re-assuming power will be a reality.

The best way to judge someones potential performance is to look at their past performance.Their is nothing in Mitt Romney's past performance,as Governor of Massachusetts,that would suggest that he would reduce the size or limit the scope and influence of the Federal government.

Do you really expect the author of Romneycare to repeal Obamacare?Do you believe for 1 minute that Romney,as President,would stand up to Harry Reid and the Democrats to reform Social Security or Medicare?No!Romney will cave on issue after issue,all in the name of "compromise."

As for the GOP,its future is in serious trouble with or without Mitt Romney,because it is no longer the natural home for 40% of the electorate,conservatives.

'Clarity'

Professor William Jacobson had this moment of clarity today at Legal Insurrection:

We are on a path to nominate someone who campaigned against Reagan, campaigned against the Contract with America, campaigned against those who are pro-Life, campaigned against 2d Amendment rights, campaigned against conservatism, and designed and enacted the precursor to Obamacare from which he will not back away.

That about sums things up,Professor.You had a moment of clarity and about 75% of the GOP is still in a drunken stupor and wont realize it until they wake up all hungover this coming November,when Barack Obama is reelected POTUS.

'GOP Needs To Listen To Ron Paul'

Jim DeMint:

“One of the things that’s hurt the so-called conservative alternative is saying negative things about Ron Paul,” DeMint said Wednesday on a national radio show. “I’d like to see a Republican party that embraces a lot of the libertarian ideas.”
Later, DeMint said that the GOP “needs” libertarian voters – not just to rise above perpetual minority status but also to infuse the party with legitimate pro-taxpayer principles.
“You don’t have to agree with everything (Paul)’s saying but if the other candidates miss some of the wisdom about what he’s saying about monetary policy … that will be to our detriment,” DeMint said.
