The Justice Department said in a statement it was monitoring the election under provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The law bars election discrimination on the basis of race, color or membership in a minority language group.
The department did not give a reason for the monitoring. Tuesday's vote will take place under South Carolina's new law mandating photo identification for voters, and Justice Department monitors observed primary elections.
I wish to God,the State of South Carolina would stand up to the DOJ and say,"we are not a 3rd world dictatorship.We are a sovereign state and Hell No,you can not come and monitor our elections for no particular reason!!!!!!"

As a way to solve the national debt crisis, North Carolina Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue recommends suspending congressional elections for the next couple of years.
“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover,” Perdue said at a rotary club event in Cary, North Carolina, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. “I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”
Perdue said she thinks that temporarily halting elections would allow members of Congress to focus on the economy. “You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things,” Perdue said.
Hey,Bev,the reason we have a debt crisis to begin with,is because we have entrenched power in Washington that never leaves.Taking away the threat of elections would only encourage this bunch not detour them.What we desperately need is term limits.We need to find away to send these people,who have found a career in public service,back into private life and out of our lives.Then maybe we could balance the budget.Furthermore,not even,Dishonest Abe,suspended elections -he rigged them and suppressed voter turn-out,but to my knowledge he never suspended them.Gov. Beverly Perdue needs to be either recalled or impeached from office for her anti-democratic ideals.No one should hold public trust when they in turn distrust the public.
