Frank Buckles, Last World War I Doughboy, Is Dead At 110

From the New York Times;
Frank Buckles, who drove an Army ambulance in France in 1918 and came to symbolize a generation of embattled young Americans as the last of the World War I doughboys, died Sunday at his home in Charles Town, W. Va. He was 110.
Frank Buckles was not just a veteran of "The Great War",he was also a POW in WWII;
...........he was on business in Manila when the Japanese occupied it following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. He was imprisoned by the Japanese, losing more than 50 pounds, before being liberated by an American airborne unit in February 1945.

“It was very disruptive, and very distracting. It hurt military cohesion. Since the girls who were trouble makers knew they could be thrown out of the military, they were somewhat careful not to over-step certain limits on their behavior.
“If gay behavior in the military is permitted, there will not be any reprimand for this type of behavior.”

Experience suggests Obama has his own definition. He seems to understand the word in some of its usages, such as leading us off a cliff, leading man, or leading on the dance floor. FDR On Public Sector Unions

FDR's thoughts on public sector unions from a letter he wrote to,Luther Steward,President of the National Federation of Federal Employees,on August 16,1937; 
Organization on their part to present their views on such matters is both natural and logical, but meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the Government.
All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress. Accordingly, administrative officials and employees alike are governed and guided, and in many instances restricted, by laws which establish policies, procedures, or rules in personnel matters.
Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of Government employees. Upon employees in the Federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable. It is, therefore, with a feeling of gratification that I have noted in the constitution of the National Federation of Federal Employees the provision that "under no circumstances shall this Federation engage in or support strikes against the United States Government."

Losers At Columbia University Heckle A Hero

Columbia University students heckled a war hero during a town-hall meeting on whether ROTC should be allowed back on campus.

"Racist!" some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.

Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.

"It doesn't matter how you feel about the war. It doesn't matter how you feel about fighting," said Maschek. "There are bad men out there plotting to kill you."

Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.

New Boss,Same As The Old Boss

Everyone in the media is crowing about the revolution in Egypt.My response to that,what revolution?The military is still in charge in Egypt as it has been since 1959 1952.For the United States that is a good thing.The last thing we and Israel need is another Iranian style revolution taking place in Egypt.

All the Egyptian people have accomplished is to remove Mubarak from power and only then because the military allowed them to.It would be equivalent to having King George III to abdicate his throne during the Revolution and another taking his place,just a change in a figurehead,not a change in the structure of government.

Sure the Egyptian people will gain concessions and some autonomy,but for now the military is still the ruling power in Egypt and that's a good thing for us.

Also while I'm ranting,whats all this talk about democracy?Democracy is not a good form of government,it is another form of tyranny.Thomas Jefferson said:
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule,where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."
The United States is not even a democracy,its a constitutional republic.While our government is democratic in character,it is republican in its form.A republican government is where men and women are chosen democratically and govern on our behalf within the scope and limits of a written constitution.The power is never vested in men but in the law.

In Egypt these past 2 weeks we have heard the cry for democracy,not once have i heard any one talking about liberty or the natural rights of men.The Declaration Of Independence says;
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,[72] that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

The Radical Left Hates Chicken

Michelle Malkin's column today,informs her readers of the war that is being waged by left wing homosexual advocacy groups against Chick-Fila and other christian owned business's.From Michelle's column:
Over the past month, several progressive activist blogs have waged an ugly war against Chick-Fil-A. The company’s alleged atrocity: One of its independent outlets in Pennsylvania donated some sandwiches and brownies to a marriage seminar run by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which happens to oppose same-sex marriage.

In the name of tolerance, the anti-Chick-Fil-A hawks sneered at the company’s main product as “Jesus Chicken,” derided its no-Sunday work policy, and attacked its operators as “anti-gay.” Michael Jones, who describes himself as having “worked in the field of human rights communications for a decade, most recently for Harvard Law School,” launched an online petition drive at www.change.org “demanding” that the company disavow “extreme anti-gay groups.” Facebook users dutifully organized witch hunt drives against the company on college campuses.

The original Chick -Fila was founded by Truett Cathy in Hapeville Ga in 1947 and to say that it is an institution on the southside of Atlanta is an understatement.Any and everyone who has lived on the southside Atlanta has visited the original Dwarf House.Some of my fondness memories,as child,was going there with my Daddy on a Saturdays afternoon,primarly to see the seven dwarf's clock they have there on the wall.

Truett Cathy is a blessing and a benefactor to the whole community here in Georgia and his"good works"are to numerous to be mentioned.

We as Americans shouldn't let these radical groups succeed in their attempts to harm this business.We should all visit a Dwarf House,Truett's Grill,or a Chick-Fila in a mall and support this fine institution with our business.
