Many Republican House members, and the bloggers and tea partiers who cheered their victory in gaining a majority in November 2010, seem to be seething with discontent and eager for confrontation.

They believe, reasonably, that their victory represented a repudiation of the vast expansion of government by the Obama Democrats. They want to see those policies reversed, and pronto. And if the dilatory Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the all-campaign-no-governance President Obama want a confrontation, so much the better.
Such impatience is unbecoming in those who call themselves “constitutional conservatives.” It is James Madison’s Constitution that prevents the winners of one election from directing the course of public policy as unilaterally as, to take one example, the British Labor party marched Britain into a socialist welfare state on the basis of one election victory in 1945.

This is utter hog-wash!We who want less government and to reduce its power over our lives DO NOT expect a return to Constitutional government over night.In fact most of us know it won't happen in our lifetimes.

We know we will have to have both the House and a filibuster proof Senate,with the Presidency just to begin to restore our nation to its Constitutional roots.We also know that the battle will not just be in Washington,but in the streets all across America.The Left -the Union-thugs and Occupy Wall Street- will rage with violence at the end of government programs that they have been conditioned to be dependent upon;being encouraged to do so by the crony capitalist who have enriched themselves at the expense of the state.It will be a very long and enduring fight.

The problem that I and others have with the Republicans in Congress,is not in their prudence in picking the right fight,but in their refusal to stand up and fight at all.Their strategy seems to be to avoid confrontation with Obama and the Democrats at all cost,caving in at every opportunity.They may not be able to roll back the welfare state,but they DO NOT have to be a party to its expansion.

Patience is a virtue,but cowardice is not.This exactly what John Boehner and the GOP leadership in the House has exhibited,cowardice.I will not be lectured to,by Michael Barone or any other Washington insider on being impatient,when we are led in Washington by a bunch of cowards.

Occupy Oakland protesters broke into City Hall, stole an American flag from the City Council chamber and set it on fire Saturday night, punctuating a wild day in which police deployed tear gas, arrested more than 400 marchers and dodged hurling objects.Demonstrators spent the day trying to break into a convention center and temporarily occupying City Hall and a YMCA, all the while snaking around lines of riot-clad police periodically shooting bean bag projectiles, among other uses of nonlethal force.Saturday marked the first major clashes between protesters and police since November and left three officers with minor injuries, as protesters threw bottles, metal pipes, rocks, spray cans and "improvised explosive devices," police said.

This kind of stuff is going to get much worse as Obama gears up his class-action reelection campaign.

'Occupy Wall Street Were Stockpiling Weapons'

Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway filed a motion on behalf of the city today opposing a court order requiring the NYPD to allow Occupy Wall Street demonstrators back into Zuccotti Park. In filing the motion, Holloway asserted that "people who have a known history of violent interaction with the police” have been gathering in the park, and “makeshift items” that he said could be used as weapons, "such as cardboard tubes with metal pipes inside, had been observed among the occupiers' possessions." He also noted that after the October 1st Brooklyn Bridge march, "knives, mace and hypodermic needles were observed discarded on the roadway."
"It was our understanding that the protesters may have had a significant number of items that could potentially be used as weapons," Halloway writes in the motion, adding that there had been little to no crime in Zuccotti Park before the occupation began, but since there had been "73 misdemeanor and felony complaints" and about 50 arrests. Although the initial order to vacate (see below) promised demonstrators they would be allowed in—though without tents and sleeping bags—Bloomberg is now refusing to comply with the court order, and the park remains closed. A growing throng of demonstrators have gathered around it.

As we move closer to the general election next year and the more it looks like Chairman Obama will be defeated in that election,the left will become more and more violent,our cities will become a burning,smoking,battlefield.

Occupy Sacramento Boot Homeless From Local Park

Its not just Wall Street the Occupy crowd want to give the jackboot to :

As the Occupy Sacramento movement settles in for another night inside Cesar Chavez Park, another group sits, watches and wonders if they’ll ever get what they call “their park” back.
“These homeless people have been out here alot longer than you have,” one homeless person tells CBS13.
For years this plaza in the heart of Sacramento has been a homeless hide-away. But some just want the Occupy group to go away:
“I just wish they’d give us our park back,” one homeless woman says.
She’s one of dozens of homeless who’ve signed a petition:
Part of the problem, some homeless argue, they feel they’ve lost their freedom.
“They got their own security, they act like the police,” one man tells Lopez. “Anytime you do anything they say you can’t do this and that … and we’re saying ‘you’re not the police.’”

You know,if the homeless can figure out what the Occupiers are all about -the loss of freedom- why can't some of us?

'Sarah Palin Nails OWS Hypocrisy'

At a Republican meeting not far from here, Sarah Palin nailed the difference between the Tea Party and the Occupy Whatever crowds. While we all may agree that the bailouts were wrong, and we should end the fed, as some occupiers seem to protest, my answer is make the government so small and impotent they can't give bailouts. OWS says "give me the money instead of them".



"They say 'Wall Street fat cats got a bailout so now I want one too.' And the correct answer is no one is entitled to a bailout," Palin told the crowd of about 1,000 at the Republican Party of Florida dinner. "The American dream, our foundation, is about work ethic and empowerment, not entitlement."


She compared the protesters and President Barack Obama to the "crony capitalists" they say they oppose.


"Barack Obama is owned by Wall Street [see here - Graybeard]. The fat cats, as he calls them, they're his friends. They're his pals. That's where he gets his campaign donations. And he's very generous about giving these cats their cat nip — bigger returns on their investments in bailouts," Palin said.


She went on to try and convince OWS that they need to be protesting Washington, where the policies they claim to oppose come from. Fat chance.

She is spot on as usual.It would have been nice if candidate Sarah Palin had made those remarks,but alas it was not to be.

Who Are The Top 1%?

Thomas Sowell:

As for the “top 1 percent” in income that attract so much attention, angst, and denunciation, there is always going to be a top 1 percent, unless everybody has the same income. That top 1 percent has no more monopoly on sainthood or villainy than people in any other bracket.

Nor does that top 1 percent consist of the “millionaires and billionaires” that Barack Obama talks about. You don’t even have to make half a million dollars to be in the top 1 percent.
Moreover, this is not an enduring class of people. Nor are people in other income brackets predetermined to stay there. Most of the people in the top 1 percent at any given time are there for only one year. Anyone who sells an average home in San Francisco can get into the top 1 percent in income — for that year. Other one-time spikes in income account for most of the people in that top 1 percent.
But such plain facts carry little weight amid the heady rhetoric and mindless emotions of the mob and the media.

Is Obama Trying To Change The Subject Of The Debate With Occupy Wall Street?

Van Jones, Richard Trumka, and the rest of Obama’s far-left allies propping up #OWS aren’t stupid. Neither is the National Federation of Teachers, the union from whose office space #OWS is operated . They are successfully reframing the debate over the economy to be about the rich vs the rest of us. It doesn’t matter if people think they’re crazy – it matters that people internalize the 99% vs. 1% way of thinking and begin hearing and talking about statistics concerning income inequality in America.


“The rich” and big corporations are deeply unpopular, and by turning Democrat vs. Republican into the common people vs. the corporate fat cats, Democrats can win elections. The discussion is no longer the national debt, no longer the president’s sorry stewardship of the economy. Instead, the topic of the day is inequality and class. The right may defeat #OWS, but without addressing this problem, Obama and his allies will have accomplished their objectives.


Before the backdrop of war and economic ruin, the Democrats are resurrecting the social forces of the analogously-situated interwar period to win elections by railing against bankers, the wealthy, and the perils of free and competitive markets, as well as promoting the utopian idea that experts and intellectuals can centrally manage society. From these forces, communism and Fascism rose and spread, and while I have more faith in America than to believe that they could ever get particularly far today (to out credit, it didn’t even get that far back then), it is important to remember where this path led, and what Roosevelt’s 1936 campaign was about.

Occupy Richmond Recieving Special Treatment From City Officials

Double standards:

As the person in charge of the 2009 event, Owens said Richmond officials dictated the number of police and emergency personnel they were required to have on site and required a $1 million liability policy to protect the city. Owens said that when a Tea Party member decided to call the mayor’s office to see if the protesters had required any of the necessary permits for the park, the city said that “Occupy Richmond” didn’t have any requirements for them to protest and stay overnight in Kanawha Plaza.

 

“We’re forced to comply with the laws, but yet they don’t have to,” she said. “That’s such a blatantly unequal application of the laws.”

This is what happens under socialism,the government no longer applies the law equally to all,but begins to dispense justice based on favoritism.

'Vatican Calls For 'Central World Bank'

The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a “global public authority” and a “central world bank” to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department should please the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn.

It called for the establishment of “a supranational authority” with worldwide scope and “universal jurisdiction” to guide economic policies and decisions.

I bet I can guess what this 'Central World Bank's' routing number would be,666.

Its Time For NYPD To Protect And Serve And Remove The Occupiers From Private Property

Here is a letter from Brookfield Properties, that owns the park that the NY protesters are living in right now, to NYPD chief Ray Kelly. While they support the right of the protesters to protest, the park has become disgusting. In part it says:



The conditions at the park have deteriorated to unsanitary and unsafe levels.

Additionally, we have received hundreds of phone calls and e-mails from concerned citizens and office workers in the neighborhood. Complaints range from outrage over numerous laws being broken including, but not limited to lewdness, groping, drinking and drug use, to the lack of safe access to and usage of the Park, to ongoing noise at all house, to unsanitary conditions to offensive odors. We have received complaints of harassment, one woman stating that she was verbally abused in front of her 5 year old child and complaining that she had a package stolen from her as she tried to cross the Park.


You have to feel sorry for those people who live around the area having to put with this disgusting mess. As the letter states, there are no public restrooms in the park. The businesses around the park have put expensive locks on their bathrooms because the protesters were bathing in their restrooms and destroying them.


This is the thing. I know there are protesters who really believe in what they are doing and “the cause.” But they must also admit that there are so many that are just there for the free food, mattresses, and the availability of drugs. It has become unsanitary and unsafe. Continuing on in this manner will only hurt your cause and make you look bad to the American people. I am all for protests, having been a part of many myself, but make your point, go home, and come back another day. What these prostesters are doing in New York is unfair and unkind to the people who live and work in the area.


Go home, take a shower, and schedule protests for day long ventures. You make the same points without looking like a bunch of rag tag druggy losers.

Ultimately Violence Will Be Necessary, Says Occupy L.A. Speaker

Some conservatives/libertarians need to wake up and understand that this Occupy crowd isn't an anti-crony capitalism movement!They are not supporters of Ron Paul!They do not want smaller government!They do not believe in free markets!

What they want is to over throw free market capitalism and replace it with absolute socialism,by any means necessary,even with violent revolution.

All I have to say to this crowd is,"Don't Tread On Me!"

Reader Harold Theurer sees another angle. Noting the passing of Steve Jobs, he wonders how many protesters carrying Apple products understand how those gadgets came to exist.
“What started out as two men in a garage with ideas and passion would have been nothing more than two guys in a garage with ideas and passion had it not been for an IPO on Dec. 12, 1980, when Apple went public at $22 per share,” he writes.
“Big Bad Wall Street raised $101 million for Mr. Jobs to expand his ideas, create jobs and change the landscape of technology. The next time any of the Wall Street occupiers makes an iTune purchase, it can be traced back to some Big Bad Banker’s belief in Mr. Jobs and his company.”
