Happy birthday,General Robert E. Lee.God bless you and thank you for your service to your country Virgina, while in both the United States and the Confederacy.
In all your suffering's and trial's,you kept the faith and retained your honor. In the moment you would consider your worst, that moment you said,"you would rather die a thousand deaths than do,"you did your greatest service for your country, both North and South. At Appomattox you surrendered your army but you did not surrender your honor or the honor of any soldier who served in the Confederate army anywhere or at any time, thereby giving honor and dignity to all the South, for all time.No Southerner, because of your leadership, ever had to hang his head in shame for their ancestor's service in the Confederate army, for that we say thank you.You are and shall ever be,the South's greatest hero.
