It Would Make A Bad Precedent

Like most people I was kind of perturbed to learn that Frank Buckles, last surviving veteran of WWI,would not be allowed to lie in honor at the U.S. Capitol by Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Ried.Frank Buckles represents more than himself,he was our last living link to all those men who went "over there" the first time and they all should be honored vicariously through Mr. Buckles.

On second thought though,I agree with Speaker Boehner and Dingy Harry, because it would establish a very bad precedent to allow someone the honor of lying in honor at the Capitol just because they were the last of their particular generation or group.

In our present political climate the door would be opened to honor the last veteran to storm the beach at Normandy, the last member of the 101st airborne who was at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, the last living survivor who survived Pearl Harbor, and so on and so on.This is not to mention what the liberals would do under such precedent.Every liberal icon from Jesse Jackson to Barney Frank would lie there. It would be the Paul Wellstone funeral every week then.

If you would establish such a precedent it would be miss used and abused by the left.
