A Few Random Thoughts On Last Nights Iowa Caucus

1.) No one won anything last night in Iowa.Their were no delegates at stake and 25% is not a majority of anything.All Mitt Romney and Rick Santourum won was 1st and 2nd place at the losers table.

2.) Iowa and New Hampshire only matter in regards to how they will effect the voting in South Carolina.Other than that they are meaningless.

3.) I wonder what the GOP establishment is willing to pay promise,Michelle Bachmann,and Ric Perry to get them out of the race now.I wouldn't be surprised that by weeks end they both endorse Romney.

4.) The GOP better listen to Sarah Palin:

Sarah Palin gave her analysis of the Iowa caucuses tonight, refusing to give any single candidate anything close to an endorsement. She also noted rather passionately though, that the GOP had better not marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters after tonight because their fiscal concerns are very legitimate and the GOP had better work with them.

Love him or hate him,but their was only 1 candidate on the ballot that was for smaller government,and that was Ron Paul.

'George Will "Romney Is The Republican Party's Michael Dukakis'

George Will is spot on,comparing Romney to Dukakis.If the GOP nominate Romney,they will suffer the same defeat that the Democrats and Dukakis suffered in 1988.

The question is now,whether the GOP establishment is ready to jump ship for another candidate and whom that candidate might be?I'm thinking they will choose Perry if the jump.

'Honestly Vetting Herman Cain'

Herman Cain and TARP:

Examining Herman Cain's record leaves serious questions about which type of problem-solver he is.  In a column published October 20, 2008, Cain blamed conservatives' "economic illiteracy" for their opposition to the freshly passed Trouble Assets Relief Program.

"Wake up people!" admonished Cain with typical candor.  "Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem."  Cain goes on to defend Treasury's decision to post-legislatively change TARP to buy preferred stock in banks rather than toxic mortgages.  "You got a problem with that?" asks Cain.  Apparently he didn't.

Cain reassures "free market purists" that the Treasury's stock purchase is "not nationalization because that would require government to own at least 51% of the entity for an indefinite period of time."  (This is a relief, because some of us thought that government would use this foot in the door to force mergers, control salaries, and set lending rules.  Oh, wait...)

The issue isn't that one mistake disqualifies a candidate from office, but rather the rationale Cain uses to justify TARP.  Is there no limit to government power so long as it's a "win-win for the tax-payer"¹?  Does the Executive Branch have the authority to decide what constitutes a win-win?  If, as Cain concludes, "unprecedented problems require unprecedented solutions," then does that include unconstitutional solutions?

The more you go beyond Herman Cain's rhetoric and begin to examine exactly what he stands for,he looks the same as Mitt Romney,Rick Perry,and all the rest,they are for Big Government when it suits their purposes.

Random Thoughts

Just a few random thoughts.

1.Rick Perry has turned out to be a spoof of Dubya,rather than a George W. Bush Reduex.

2.Necessity maybe the mother of invention,but wealth is invention's father.

3.I am tired of politicians playing hard to get,Chris Christie and Sarah Palin.Either enter the fray or shut the hell up.

4.Herman Cain talks a good game,but me thinks if elected,he would cave like all the rest.

5.Ever since Mark Harmon forced out Donald Bellisarrio as show runner/head writer,NCIS hasn't been as good.

6.The Indianapolis Colt's are 0-4 this season without Peyton Manning.Is Peyton the Most Valuable Player in NFL history?

Why I Fear Rick Perry

Conventional Wisdom holds that,Rick Perry,is a rube,a light-weight,who won't stand up well in the debates and will wilt and fade away as quickly as he came.Nothing can be farther from the truth.

Brian Bolduc:

If his past behavior is any indication, when Gov. Rick Perry debates his Republican rivals on September 7, he’ll treat them pretty ugly.

Although the Texan refused to debate his Democratic opponent in last year’s election, his earlier performances show he loves a good fight.

Not that he comes out swinging. Rather, he loosens up over time. And when he’s at his most relaxed, he goes in for the kill.

Rick Perry is a smart pro,a shark,that knows when to go in for the kill.Romney wont last long as a viable candidate against him,maybe a month or 2, before the establishment crowd will jump ship and swim to Perry's shore.If Sarah Palin waits to November to jump in,she might as well as stay at home,it will be too late by then.Rick Perry is a force to be reckoned with.

I Was Afraid This Might Happen

Over at Hot Air they are showing a poll done by Zogby which shows Rick Perry leading the GOP field by 41% to his nearest competitor Mitt Romney 12%.While I don't believe the exact numbers in this Zogby poll,the fact is undeniable,Rick Perry has taken over this campaign and the interest and excitement of his campaign dwarfs the others by far.

This is bad news if your a Sarah Palin supporter.Sarah needs to jump in the race now,before Perry has time to consolidate his support behind him,or I'm afraid it will be to late,if its not already to late.

Rick Perry - George W. Bush Reduex

Here is what I told them in full:
“The Gardasil debacle is just one of many concerns a wide range of grass-roots conservative activists have about Perry’s record as governor. He’s soft on illegal immigration despite a few recent nods to border enforcement. He’s prone to crony capitalism. And as the vaccine mandate scandal shows, he demonstrated Nanny State tendencies that are anathema to Tea Party core principles.

Rick Perry is the second coming of George W. Bush.Perry talks a good game and would be an improvement to Obama,but when it comes to governing,he is big government lite just like Dubya.This country can not survive just 4 more years of Obama,but we can't survive another 4 years of Bush either,we have to dramatically change course this upcoming election..

Sarah Palin,I believe is our best chance to restore our government back to constitutional freedom and once again restore us to a free market based economy,but she may have fooled around this summer and been too smart by half,and let the wolf in the door.Perry is formidable,unlike Romney,he understands that those who play it safe,wined up being road kill in politics,that's why the GOP establishment is and will abandon Mitt and embrace their new golden boy,Perry.Sarah may can still beat Perry,but it will be an uphill fight for sure now.

Do We Have A New GOP Frontrunner?

I'm not one to put much stock in polls,especially this early,but this from the new Zogby poll;

The poll found Mrs. Bachmann garnering 24 percent of the vote, well-ahead of businessman Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who each received 15 percent support.

This poll and all others are absolutely meaningless until either Sarah Palin and Rick Perry decide whether they are going to run or not.Either one or both of them will dramatically alter the shape of this race.

On the other hand it may be spelling doom for Mitt Romney.Bachmann and Cain combined  garner 39% in this poll.That's 39% I don't ever see Mitt getting.He is too wishy washy and Romneycare will sink him. 

"Stand Up" And "Stop Apologizing"

"It saddens me when sometimes my fellow Republicans duck and cover in the face of pressure from the left. Our party cannot be all things to all people," Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) said at a Republican party event in Louisiana today.

"Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let's quit trying to curry favor with them!"

I'm still holding out for Sarah Palin,but Gov. Rick Perry of Texas said all the right things at the RLC in New Orleans yesterday.
