Jim DeMint is one of the few in Washington who actually get it.DeMint made a Super Bowl reference during his own speech, pointing out that the victorious New York Giants didn’t take the field to “work with” the other guys or “cooperate” with the opposing quarterback. He pointed out that the goals of the Democrats are so diametrically opposed to Republicans that, on the greatest issues facing us, there is no room for “compromise,” which only works well when the two parties have shared goals. “Every time we ‘compromise’ with Democrats, we spend more, borrow more, and grow the government,” he sighed ruefully.“Conservatism is not a political ‘theory,’” said DeMint. “It is a proven set of principles to make life better, and people freer, and the country stronger.” He added that liberal social planning and the central control of economics isn’t a political theory either – “it’s a proven failure.”DeMint said “the principles of a strong military, and an otherwise limited government” should not be on trial in America – they should be “held on display, for the world to see, and emulate.”
Musings on history,most especially on the War Between The States,southern culture and anything else that may tickle my fancy or riles my blood.

Rep. Allen West Is About To Redistricted Out Of Congress By His Own Party,The GOP
From Legal Insurrection:
This has not received a lot of national attention, but the Republican legislature in Florida is about to push through a plan which puts Allen West at serious risk, and the person leading the effort is one of Mitt Romney’s spokemen.What is it going to take for Tea Partiers,small goverment types,conservatives in general,to get the message,you are not welcomed in the GOP.They do not want you in "their" party.Why stay and keep putting up with this?

'Ron Paul Will Defeat Mitt Romney In Virginia Primary'
From The Hill:
Hopefully conservatives will wise up and realize Ron Paul is the only conservative choice this election.
What conservatives have long needed is a one-on-one battle with Romney. Virginia will give it to them. This alone should generate maximum publicity and benefit for the winner in Virginia.
So watch the results in Florida, but do not believe anyone who tells you the campaign is over, no matter who wins Florida.
This battle goes on to Super Tuesday at least, and probably longer.
On the matter of the vote in Virginia, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are headed to a High Noon showdown that I now believe Ron Paul will win.
Hopefully conservatives will wise up and realize Ron Paul is the only conservative choice this election.

'Mitt Romney: The Last Republican President?'
Steve McCann:
The best way to judge someones potential performance is to look at their past performance.Their is nothing in Mitt Romney's past performance,as Governor of Massachusetts,that would suggest that he would reduce the size or limit the scope and influence of the Federal government.
Do you really expect the author of Romneycare to repeal Obamacare?Do you believe for 1 minute that Romney,as President,would stand up to Harry Reid and the Democrats to reform Social Security or Medicare?No!Romney will cave on issue after issue,all in the name of "compromise."
As for the GOP,its future is in serious trouble with or without Mitt Romney,because it is no longer the natural home for 40% of the electorate,conservatives.
Mitt Romney, by his actions in Massachusetts both campaigning for the U.S. Senate and as Governor, has shown himself to be more than willing to compromise with the Left and the Democrats. He has proposed and passed the socialist RomneyCare policy, pro-abortion regulations, and gun control, and raised numerous taxes and fees while increasing spending dramatically. During the current campaign he refuses to call Barack Obama what he is; instead Romney refers to him as just "being over his head."
If ever a candidate mirrored the mindset and approach of George H.W. Bush, it is Mitt Romney.
This is the last hurrah of the Republican establishment. The conservatives and libertarians will vote for Romney in November, but only because he is not Barack Obama. There will be no enthusiasm, which will hurt the down ballot contests for the U.S. Senate, the House and state governorships. Despite the factors weighing against Obama in this upcoming election, it will be a much closer contest that it should be; perhaps a razor thin victory for Romney.
If Romney were to lose the election, there will be a grass-roots revolt against the Republican Party which will spell its demise. If he wins and the nation, through the mis-directed policies of Romney and the Republicans in the Congress, continues on its current path of compromising and nibbling around the edges of the nation's problems, then Romney will be the last Republican president and the specter of the Democrats re-assuming power will be a reality.

A Few Thoughts On The New Hampshire Primary
1.) Mitt Romney,like last week in Iowa,failed to get a majority.So,he retains his first place seat at the loser's table.BTW,all New Hampshire decided was were a handful of delegates go,that's all.
2.) Jon Huntsman has spent a better part of 6 months in New Hampshire and can only garner 18% of the vote.Dude,you are done,drop out and get your daughters a reality TV show.
3.) Is conservative media virtually irrelevant this election cycle?Last night Mitt Romney and Ron Paul together got over 60% of the vote.Most of the big guns in conservative radio,TV,and on the web oppose both of them.Have conservatives tuned out the talking heads?

'Joe McGinness,Democrats,And Other Paassive Aggressive Racists'
From The Pagan Temple:
Liberals
Liberals have always been the real racists.They are the ones who believe that African-Americans are so inferior that they can't take care or support themselves,not conservatives.
Liberals
McGinness and his defenders say more about themselves than they do the Tea Party or for that matter about Palin. Why should they assume conservatives should be so up in arms at the idea Palin might have had a brief fling with a black man? This is the most obvious sign of racist projection I have ever seen, and for Democrats that's saying something.
This is a party that promoted and defended slavery, and then Jim Crow, and who to this day think of the black race as a group of people who are so inferior they require the beneficence of the federal government to protect them and even to support them. Taken to its natural extreme, it won't be long before the feds start sending government employees out to all the government housing projects to cook their meals, clean their houses, and wash their clothes, with the taxpayer picking up the tab.
Liberals have always been the real racists.They are the ones who believe that African-Americans are so inferior that they can't take care or support themselves,not conservatives.

American Spectator Dead Wrong On Ron Paul
While I disagree with Mr. Wood's opinion that Sarah Palin is a "light weight",it is a very good defence of Ron Paul against the smear piece in the the American Spectator.

The Smearing Of Ron Paul
I'm not a supporter of Ron Paul for POTUS,he and I agree on the massive size of our government and its need to be severely reduced and a return to constitutional government,but when it comes to the waters edge I disagree with his reduced U.S. presence in the world view- it wont lead to peace but more war.Having said this,I in no way believe Ron Paul's foreign policy is motivated by anti-semitism in the least bit,unlike Jeffery Lords at the American Spectator:
If you read this full article you will be hard press to find a quote from Ron Paul,much less a quote proving he is a anti-Semite.Most of the evidence is either from a author of a book that Ron Paul recommends,or quotes attributed to staffers,ex-staffers,or "Paulville."If you are going to charge that someone is a racist you should at least have direct quotes from them,not the quotes of some campaign staffer.
Also,let me deal with the term Neo-Confederate.The word Neo-Confederate has been a code word that progressive throw around to convey the image of Neo-Nazi's on the Confederacy,and this article proves it by trying to tie in anti-Semitism with Neo- Confederates.The absolute thing the Southern Confederacy was not were a bunch of National Socialists.I think they should reexamine their idol Lincoln if they want to see a National Socialist.
There's more -- much more than we have room for here. The Ron Paul campaign's "official blogger" Jack Hunter hates Lincoln but can't find his tongue with Confederate president Jefferson Davis suspending habeas corpus or 100% of the civil liberties of blacks -- aka slavery. Then there's Thomas J. DiLorenzo, whose arguments are recommended reading by Ron Paul. Here's Mr. DiLorenzo on Amazon.I would have expected this kind of smear campaign to have come from the Obama campaign and his protectors in the MSM,not from a respected conservative magazine.Who would have thought a conservative would play the race card before Obama?
The Ron Paul campaign is really about re-educating America to what can only be called Neoliberalism. Which, based on the evidence and writings of its supporters, appears to be a thin gruel of free markets and non-interventionism seasoned heavily with anti-Semitism, morally obtuse Neo-Confederates, and an outspoken contempt for both conservatism and conservative leaders past and present.

"Dear House Republicans, This is Your “Time For Choosing”
Via Red State;
Dear House Republicans,If the GOP caves and folds-as I think they will- me-thinks it will be time for a new political party for conservatives to call home.
In the election of 2010, voters sent you to Washington to do two things: (1) End Obamacare and (2) pull us back from the brink of financial ruin.
You have failed at the first task. Obamacare remains. You never even seriously attempted to restrain its funding or implementation. Heck, you haven’t even saved the incandescent lightbulb.
Will you now fail at the second task too?
If you cave, fold, or compromise on the President’s terms, you will have failed in both your missions. If you support Mitch McConnell’s plan, you will have decisively failed.
Now is a time for choosing. Now is your time for choosing.As I pointed out to John Boehner yesterday, despite what the pundits in Washington are telling you, it is you and not Obama who hold most of the cards. Obama has a legacy to worry about. Should the United States lose its bond rating, it will be called the “Obama Depression”. Congress does not get pinned with this stuff.
But there are a few points that you need to understand.
First, as the hours go on, the doom and gloom scenarios are going to get worse. By the end of July, Goldman Sachs, Ben Bernanke, and Timmy Geithner are going to tell you the world will end unless you raise the debt ceiling.
They did it with TARP too.
And now we know that the amount of money used in TARP was far less than allocated and a lot of the TARP situation involved Hank Paulson forcing solvent banks to play along. Oh, and a great many Republicans were primaried out of office.
Do not believe the doom and gloom. Wise decisions are never made when premised on fear.
Second, understand that the pundits and talking heads people expect you to listen to probably have it wrong. Remember, in 2010, they told you that if you kept being the Party of No, you’d lose. And yet . . .
As I’ve said repeatedly, the pundits and chattering class in Washington have a bias far greater than their liberal one — it is a good government bias. They believe Republicans and Democrats should come together and do grand bargains. Evil and stupid come together and do something evil and stupid. The press heralds it as bipartisanship at its finest, damn the results. We’ve been doing these grand bargains for years. Remember the last time we had a balanced budget in DC? That was at $5 trillion in national debt and no one bothered to read the fine print that the “balance” was actually based on a 10 year Congressional Budget Office projection.
Likewise, the pundits with a good government bias for some reason tend to ignore the Democrats’ problems. In 2010, the media told us you beat the Democrats because the Democrats got their message wrong, not their policy. We know the truth. But we also know that the Democrats were willing to lose to advance socialism. Are you willing to lose to advance freedom?
Finally, and here is my big point — you have to win this fight. If you do not win this fight, there will be no more chances to turn back government. Why? Because President Obama is holding senior citizens hostage with their social security checks.
If the President can force your hand by using entitlements as a lever to punish the American people if you don’t do as he wants, you will have established this as a precedent. From here on out, if you lose this fight, every time you balk at expanding government, social security checks will be withheld, medicare payments will be withheld, and in just a few short years, surgeries will be cancelled, vaccinations withheld, and hospitals shuttered.
It will all be because if you lose this fight now, the Democrats will know for certain from here on out that they can use withholding entitlements as a tool to force your hand.
You must win this fight. You must show you are not afraid. When Ben Bernanke brings the Grim Reaper in on August 1st to tell you we are all going to die, you must mock death and choose life — not bipartisan compromises that will keep growing government and ever more rapidly turn this nation into a third class banana republic. In short, you must hold the freaking line!
Now, some of you, if you have read this far, are saying, “But in 1995, the Republicans got blamed for shutting down the government.” They did. But that’s because Americans detest losers. And Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole threw in the towel instead of fighting. Their will broke. They did not break the President’s will. Of course, the next year the GOP still only lost 9 House seats and actually gained Senate seats. Imagine what would have happened had they broken the President’s will.
House Republicans, this is a time for choosing: Do you choose to be more courageous than the Democrats who were willing to risk defeat to advance socialism? Is keeping your job more important to you than saving the country? If so, the odds are you will both lose your job and lose your country.
This is a time for choosing. Choose wisely.

The Cult Of Lincoln
One of the problems in conservatism today is the outright worship and revering of Abraham Lincoln among conservatives.He is lauded from Rush Limbaugh even to Sarah Palin as a hero of American Constitutional government even though Lincoln destroyed the Founders original vision of the Constitution,a limited federal government,and instituted an all powerful Leviathan that has consumed states and individual rights.Outside of Ron Paul,I know of no major conservative on the national scene who would dare criticise Lincoln.
So it came to no surprise to have found Rich Lowry to have written this;
Lincoln did get this right though,that the Declaration of Independence rebukes and is "a stumbling-block to the very harbingers of reappearing tyranny and oppression",and Mr. Lincoln it rebukes you most of all.
A lot of people like to perpetuate the myth that Lincoln believed in equality under the law,when nothing could be further from the truth;
Furthermore,what right did the Declaration of Independence give,Lincoln,that by the use of military force he could hold,free and soveriegn states in the Union against their will,after they had democraticly chosen "to alter or abolish it."
Lincoln is just as guilty as,King George III,in his many offences to the the colonies.He sent large armies in among the southern people without their consent.He blockaded southern ports.He refused to "Assent to Laws",by ignoreing and subverting the Constitution.As King George's armies "plundered our seas,ravaged our coasts,burnt our towns,and destroyed the lives of our people",so did Lincoln armies do the same to the South and more so.
What does the Declaration of Independence say about such men;
Thomas Connolly refers to,Robert E. Lee,as the "marble man",because after the war the people of the south diefied him,dehumanizing him,removing all fault and error from him.The people of the North did something simmilar to Lincoln,he has been bronzed over.He has been made and fashioned as they wanted him to be,hiding who he really is,thus making a tyrant a false god of liberty.
So it came to no surprise to have found Rich Lowry to have written this;
In the prelude to and during the Civil War — the 150th anniversary of which we mark this year — Lincoln clung to the Declaration as the fundamental statement of the nation’s purpose. The Declaration, according to Lincoln, easily could have enunciated the practical reasons for our split from Britain, and left it at that. No ringing philosophical statements, no invocation of “unalienable rights.”What a load of hog wash!If their are 2 individuals who are diametrically opposed to one another in American history,it is Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.Their is no greater champion of states rights and the rights of man than Thomas Jefferson,and Rich Lowry,Abraham Lincoln is no Thomas Jefferson.
But Thomas Jefferson’s handiwork was meant for the ages. Lincoln praised him for possessing the foresight “to introduce into a merely revolutionary document, an abstract truth, applicable to all men and all times, and so to embalm it there, that to-day, and in all coming days, it shall be a rebuke and a stumbling-block to the very harbingers of re-appearing tyranny and oppression.”
Lincoln did get this right though,that the Declaration of Independence rebukes and is "a stumbling-block to the very harbingers of reappearing tyranny and oppression",and Mr. Lincoln it rebukes you most of all.
A lot of people like to perpetuate the myth that Lincoln believed in equality under the law,when nothing could be further from the truth;
I am not now, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social or political equality of the white and black races. I am not now nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor of intermarriages with white people. There is a physical difference between the white and the black races which will forever forbid the two races living together on social or political equality. There must be a position of superior and inferior, and I am in favor of assigning the superior position to the white man.It is evident that,Lincoln,did not believe all men were "created equal",as is spoken in the Declaration.
Lincoln in his speech to Charleston, Illinois, 1858
What does the Declaration of Independence say about such men;
A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.If their ever was "a Tyrant unfit to be a ruler of free people",it was Abraham Lincoln.

Ron Paul Takes On Pro-Choice Busybodies
From Free North Carolina;
Ron Paul is brilliant here.He exposes the left's hypocrisy concerning freedom and choice.The only time the liberals ever favor choice is (unless your the unborn) concerning abortion.In every thing else they (the libs) want to restrict what choices we can make.Whether it is what car we choose to drive to the light bulbs we use in our homes,they have decided they are better informed to make those choices for us.The truth is Rand Paul and other like minded conservatives are far more Pro-Choice than the most moderate Democrat is.
